Everett selects center Ty Mappin in the first round of the bantam draft

The Silvertips took center Ty Mappin from Red Deer, Alberta, at No. 7 overall. The Tips were considering making a trade with Brandon, which owned the 11th-overall pick, but decided to use their pick on Mappin. Director of player development Scott Scoville, on the webcast, described Mappin as a highl

y-skilled centerman. He also said Mappin was the player Everett had targeted all along.
