Idamae Schack wrote a letter to The Herald applauding the Magic Flute program for over 3,000 school children. She particularly thanked Diane Wright, Sharon Wootton and Eugene Smith for making the event happen. It was a first such endeavor of the Everett Opera Guild.

The Herald wrote an editorial endorsing the Snohomish School District’s bond issue to renovate its high school athletic fields. The improvements would help Snohomish keep up its fine athletic programs, which built community pride while building confidence and character in young people.
