Arlington: Downtown fundraisers scheduled
Immaculate Conception Church offers its annual plant sale from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Arlington City Hall plaza, 238 N. Olympic Ave. Perennials, annuals, small trees and parish cookbooks will be available.
Down the street, the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society needs to give away two computers, two printers, a monitor and a copier for donations that will help pay the society’s rent. Visit the genealogy library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 135 N. Olympic Ave.

Sale to support youth suicide prevention
Lisa Cisneros and Kristi Cleary plan to raise money for the national Youth Suicide Prevention Program from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Sisco Heights Community Center, 13527 99th Ave. NE, south of Arlington. Sales of food, jewelry, candles and perfume are planned.

Darrington: Services for fire commissioner
Memorial services for Darrington Fire Commissioner Holley Ross are set for 2 p.m. today in the dining room at Darrington Community Center.
Ross, 63, died May 21 from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Ross’s community service in Darrington also includes her work as a police officer, school bus driver, cemetery board member, high school alumni association and the community center board of directors.
Help with upkeep of Mountain Loop trails
Join Darrington Ranger District personnel from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for a day of trail maintenance along the Mountain Loop Highway. Meet at the district office, 1405 Emens Ave. N.
Volunteer efforts will be recognized by the community with dinner and door prizes at 4:30 p.m. at the Mansford Grange, located on Railroad Avenue behind the IGA grocery store.

Lake Stevens: Road repair on 20th Street
Road work on the west end of 20th Street SE in Lake Stevens is planned today and Saturday.
Traffic delays are expected today as the city’s contractor, Lakeside Industries, completes pavement grinding of the failing roadway. The road is expected to be open to one lane of traffic and the work is planned to be completed before the afternoon peak hour travel, said Mick Monken, director of public works.
Crews are scheduled to place asphalt pavement Saturday until mid-afternoon. During this work, 20th Street SE will be closed to through traffic between Highway 2 and 91st Avenue SE. The U.S. 2 offramp will also be closed during this work. Pavement marking and striping is expected to follow within a few weeks, but a date for the work has not been set, Monken said.
Marysville: Attend Constitution class
Teens are invited to study the U.S. Constitution this summer.
Lessons are based on the book, “The 5,000 Year Leap: Principles of Freedom 101,” by W. Cleon Skousen. The course is for ages 12 to 18. Classes are from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 28 through Aug. 30, at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St.

Stanwood: Road closure continues
Miller Road, between Pioneer Highway and Norman Road, continues to be closed because of a slide earlier this year. A detour is posted.
Snohomish County public works officials are unsure of a repair date, but said emergency vehicles have access on the road at all times.
