Coach announcement coming Wednesday

The Silvertips announced today they are holding a press conference Wednesday to unveil their new head coach. The press conference is at 3 p.m. at the Everett Events Center.

The Tips have been without a head coach since early June when Craig Hartsburg, who was behind the bench the past two seasons, resigned to become the associated head coach of the NHL’s Calgary Flames. The new coach will be the fourth in franchise history.

Everett general manager Doug Soetaert stated last week that he had narrowed the field down to three candidates, and that he expected to make an announcement within 10 days, so this is right on schedule. He also said an NHL coaching pedigree was not required. That’s notable because wo of Everett’s previous three head coaches — Hartsburg and original coach Kevin Constantine — had NHL head coaching experience prior to taking over the Tips.
