MARYSVILLE — Justin Peterson scored three touchdowns, three different ways to lead Lakewood to the win in the nonconference game. He carried the ball nine times for 58 yards and a rushing touchdown and also scored on a 79-yard reception. He added a 69-yard punt return for a score after a 90-yard punt return, which would have been a score, was called back on a penalty. Rounding out his night, Peterson also passed 73 yards, completing 2 of 6 passes. Running back Christian Melton carried the ball nine times for 86 yards and two touchdowns for Lakewood. The Cougars rushed for 271 yards on 32 carries as a team. Lynden Christian had just four first downs through three quarters, all coming the first quarter on their first drive. Cornerback Wil Owens led the Lakewood defense with two interceptions.
