Bothell: EMS levy passed with 75%
Bothell’s emergency medical services levy passed last month with 75 percent of the vote.
The current levy had been set to expire this year. This vote continued funding for basic and advanced life support at a rate of 30 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. The current rate is 25 cents per $1,000. That’s an annual increase of $15 for a house with an assessed value of $300,000.
By law, the EMS levy only can be used for emergency medical care or services such as personnel, training, equipment, supplies, vehicles and structures.
The issue appeared on the Aug. 16 ballot and was certified Aug. 31, with 1,889 yes votes and 623 no votes.

Everett: Comment on historic home removal
The public is invited to comment on a proposal to remove a house at 1102 Grand Ave. in the Rucker/Grand Historic Overlay Zone and replace it with a new single family home.
The home, built in 1926, would be moved off site. The application and other paperwork are on file at the Everett Planning Department.
The Everett Historical Commission plans to conduct a public hearing on the application 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the eighth floor of 2930 Wetmore Ave.

Learn about ranching, farming on small scale
Those interested in small acreage farming and ranching can sign up for a series of courses scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 20 at at WSU Snohomish County Extension’s Cougar Auditorium, 600 128th St SE, Everett.
The course gives participants a broad overview of production and marketing options for today’s small farm.
Weekly presentations include local growers, organizations, and university specialists with expertise in direct marketing, value-added processing, production planning, agronomy and livestock production. In addition, two Saturday field trips will visit nearby farms to learn about different styles of successful small farm enterprises.
Class size is limited. Cost for the 12-week course is $275 per farm or family. Prior registration is required.

Mill Creek: Board members sought
The city of Mill Creek is looking for two people to serve the Art Beautification Advisory Board.
The board meets the second Wednesday each month at 4 p.m. It advises the council and city manager about the aesthetics of special events and projects, how to use the city’s art fund and selection and placement of public art.
Board members must be a resident of Mill Creek. This is a volunteer position.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 21.
