Don’t lose your punch card

Biff! Pow! Blammo! A comic book store in Chicago is rewarding frequent customers with an unusual perk: Make 50 purchases and you can punch a store employee in the gut. The store’s owner expects he’ll take most of the blows.

If he’s successful, we’d like to see this customer loyalty program extended to include bank executives, oil company officials, reality TV stars and members of Congress.

100 percent chance of fabrication: A TV meteorologist, since let go by a New York ABC station, admitted she made up claims of repeated attacks by a stranger on city streets that resulted in at least 350 hours of unnecessary investigation time by police.

Police said they began to doubt her story when they learned what she did for a living and knew they couldn’t trust anything she said.

Like: Columnist Michelle Singletary says the National Labor Relations Board is having to rule on an increasing number of cases where employees have been fired by their employers for things they posted on Facebook. In general, you’re protected if you complain about your work conditions on Facebook, but probably not protected if you just use Facebook to say your boss is a jerk.

And your boss is also justified in firing you if you keep pestering him with requests to water your crops, rake your leaves and clear weeds in FarmVille.
