Get a look at lookouts at lecture in Darrington

Learn something about the area’s fire lookouts at a slideshow and presentation about the historical structures and the people who staffed them.

“Lightning & Loneliness,” sponsored by the Darrington Historical Society, will be presented at 1 and 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at Mansford Grange in Darrington.

The doors will open at noon for coffee and conversation.

Stories will include the first lookout on the Darrington Ranger District, the time lightning struck Mount Pugh Lookout and who convinced his bride to spend her honeymoon at Three Fingers Lookout.

Visitors are invited to bring photos, memorabilia and stories to share.
