STANWOOD — Melina Seabrook’s 24 kills helped Monroe edge Stanwood 27-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-9 in the first Wesco North volleyball match of the season for both teams.

With the win Monroe improved to 4-1 overall and knocked Stanwood to 3-2.

“The first set was really good,” said Stanwood h

ead coach Erik Titus. “It was tied at 25-25, but a net serve and an earned point ended it. We won the third, but then they closed us out.

“We gave away too many points to a good team,” continued Titus. “Good credit to them, they came back in game four and put the hammer to us pretty good. They are a good ball club.”

Other strong performances came from Kaitlin Lebon (22 digs) and Kendal Munoz (23 assists) for Monroe and Kaci Jones (20 assists) and Krista Titus (15 digs) for Stanwood.
