Friendly skies; hostile runway: JetBlue and American Airlines could face fines of up to $27,000 for each stranded customer after passengers had to endure waits of up to seven hours on the tarmac of a Connecticut airport this weekend. Tarmac delays at U.S. airports are limited by law to three hours for domestic flights.

Both airlines apologized but explained that they thought the passengers were part of an Occupy Tarmac demonstration.

Open wide and say “Yes, I can”: President Barack Obama was given a clean bill of health by his doctor in a report released by the White House. The report noted Obama eats well, gets exercise, has quit smoking and has improved his cholesterol level.

The report also noted that Obama undergoes physical therapy to deal with a recurrent pain in the back, but the doctor said there was nothing he could do about Congress.
