Friendly skies; hostile runway: JetBlue and American Airlines could face fines of up to $27,000 for each stranded customer after passengers had to endure waits of up to seven hours on the tarmac of a Connecticut airport this weekend. Tarmac delays at U.S. airports are limited by law to three hours for domestic flights.

Both airlines apologized but explained that they thought the passengers were part of an Occupy Tarmac demonstration.
