Mavericks smack Falcons 33-7 in quad-district playoff game

After its special teams allowed a punt to be returned for a score in the first quarter, Meadowdale scored five unanswered touchdowns to steamroll Prairie 33-7 in a 3A quad-district football playoff game Nov. 5 at Edmonds Stadium.
Running back Kyler Larsen scored on 5- and 3-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter and then senior running back Kyle Newsom had TD runs of 2, 3 and 71 yards in the third quarter.
Newsom finished with 115 yards on 14 carries, while junior running back Giavani Shepard had 113 yards on 20 carries.
Meadowdale improved to 10-0 overall and advances to the first round of the state playoffs.
