T-day leftovers
Hand me that lampshade: If there’s a holiday office party on your schedule in the coming weeks, here’s some advice: avoid the booze. A study found that more than half of those who’ve attended work-related parties have seen colleagues behaving inappropriately, with the proof often showing up on Facebook.
At least now when you act like a drunken fool, flirt with the boss’ wife and tell off your rival, you won’t have to ask your co-workers Monday if you really did those things. You can just check your profile page on Facebook.
Helps to put things in perspective: While the family is all together for the Thanksgiving weekend, now might be a good time to bring up delicate subjects such as finances with parents, kids and siblings.
And if talking about your aging parents’ financial security or your college student’s loan situation seems uncomfortable, ease into the conversation by engaging in a debate about the upcoming presidential campaign, the Occupy movement or gun control.
It’s black for a reason: If you’ve racked up debt, you’re not alone. Getting out takes effort, but we’ve got some steps that can make it easier, such as putting necessities first and forgoing entertainment and gifts.
Oh, never mind. Go on with your shopping. We forgot what day it was.
