Take a Camano walk

Friends of Camano Island Parks offer a guided community walk at Elger Bay Preserve on Saturday.

Meet at 9:50 a.m. at the junction of Dry Lake Road and Elger Bay Road, just north of Elger Bay Elementary School, 1810 Elger Bay Road.

It is a fairly level trail with one 50-foot elevation gain. The walk includes the signed, interpretive Elger Bay Nature Trail, a demonstration area of the Backyard Wildlife Habitat project. The walk will take place rain or shine.

Trail booklets and maps will be available at the walk for a $1 donation.

For more information about Friends of Camano Island Parks, call 360-387-0889 or go to www.friendsofcamanoislandparks.org.

Bands play in Everett: Wigstock is to be held Friday night at the Anchor Pub, 1001 Hewitt Ave. in Everett, to benefit a cancer patient.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and there is a $10 cover charge.

Bands scheduled to play are Oliver Elf Army, The Charlies and Endangered Species.

Feel free to wear a wig.

Dancing with the Stars: Students and staff from Glacier Peak High School and the American Ballroom Dance Institute of Bothell pair up to compete in an event similar to “Dancing with the Stars” to help the Maltby Food Bank.

The event starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the high school auditorium, 7401 144th Place SE, Snohomish. Cost of admission is $5 or five cans of nonperishable food.
