Ryan Murray update

The first scrimmage of Canada’s tryouts for the World Junior Hockey Championships took place tonight. The most newsworthy thing as far as Everett defenseman Ryan Murray is concerned is that Murray played. That means both he and the coaching staff decided his ankle was sound enough to take part, which is a good sign. Beyond that, he didn’t do anything to warrant mention in any of the analysis I found. His Team White beat Team Red 3-2. Murray didn’t have any points, and he took a holding penalty in the second period that did not lead to a Team Red goal.
The first round of cuts takes place following Monday night’s scrimmage. The full team is expected to be announced Wednesday morning.
