Concentrate and ask again: A bipartisan panel is expected to release today a new map of Washington state’s congressional districts that adds a 10th district and a new member of Congress to the state.
Panel members rejected a suggestion from several voters that the state eliminate the nine current seats and give each of the 10 districts a Magic 8 Ball, or something else equally capable of compromise.

Czeched baggage: Airport workers in Argentina discovered 247 poisonous snakes and endangered reptiles inside the baggage of a Czech man boarding a flight to Spain in Buenos Aires.
Security workers very nearly missed the snakes and reptiles in the baggage when they were distracted by a woman carrying a frosted cupcake through scanners.

Losing its hold, apparently: Sears Holding Co. says it will close at least 100 underperforming Sears and Kmart stores following a very poor holiday shopping season for the one-time pillar of American retailing.
