MONROE — In a back-and-forth contest between Wesco 4A opponents, Monroe’s Terrance Day sank two clutch free-throws with 9 seconds and an Edmonds-Woodway missed 3-pointer as time expired helped the Bearcats earn a 58-57 victory over the Warriors in Wesco play.

“It was a great point guard battle the whole way through, very fun to watch,” said Monroe coach Nick Wold.

The point guard battle between Day and Edmonds Woodway’s Devin Joseph definitely reached its pinnacle in the fourth quarter, where Day scored 13 of his season-high 25 points. Joseph nearly matched Day’s fourth quarter output by scoring eight of his 12 points in the same span.

Wold said that Monroe was assisted by the defensive play of Desmond Cochran, who had nine rebounds and seven points in the victory.
