Those of you who are ardent readers of this blog, or who follow me on Twitter, are aware that I had laptop issues during Wednesday night’s game. Well, that continues to be a problem. You see, I had a water bottle in my work bag heading to the game, and that bottle leaked and soaked my computer. Now I’m praying the IT guys back at the office can somehow dry my laptop out and salvage it. Not only was I used to that machine, it contained nearly nine years of collected Silvertips history. It would be a shame if all that was lost to the netherworld. And what makes it doubly difficult is I have no one to blame by myself. So I’m asking everyone to send some good healing vibes to my computer so that I don’t have to start pestering you all to help me remember everything.
Anyway, onto more important things …
– I could hardly believe my eyes when I arrived at this afternoon’s practice as there were 24 roster players on the ice. What? Isn’t that everyone? Indeed it is. Center Manraj Hayer (concussion) was at full speed, while winger JT Barnett (knee) and defenseman Evan Morden (ankle) both skated with no-contact jerseys.
Barnett was the big surprise. He was thought to be lost for the season because of a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee. However, he avoided surgery, and apparently the healing process has gone well. Tips coach Mark Ferner said it would be another 7-10 days before they know whether Barnett’s knee is sound enough for hockey, but now there’s at least a chance Barnett will be able to return before the season ends.
– There weren’t actually 24 players on the ice today, there were 25. Prospect defenseman Michael Zipp is spending the week with the team. The 15-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta, was Everett’s fourth-round pick in last year’s bantam draft.
– Finally, a reminder that Friday’s crunch contest against Seattle is being televised by ROOT Sports. So if you can’t make it to Comcast Arena, make sure you catch it on the small screen.
