50 years ago (1962)

Members of the Snohomish County Nurses Association were to attend the state nurses convention in Seattle later this week. They were Mary Hall, head nurse at Scott Paper Co.; June Marquardt, Everett Junior College coordinator; Irene Jacobson, staff nurse at Everett General Hospital; Evelyn Nelson, nurse at Simpson-Lee Paper Co.; and Elmina Boothby, public health nurse.

The signing of a construction contract for road building, land clearing and grading of the 956 parcels to be developed on Hat Island was announced by Jack L. McIntosh, vice president and general manager of Hat Island Development Co. Contractor for this first phase of the multi-million dollar development was Bob Helgeson of Sultan.

25 years ago (1987)

The Everett YMCA’s annual Lenten luncheon series speaker was the Rev. Bob Johnson from Bethany Christian Assembly. The noon event would end at 12:50 p.m., according to Norma Hewitt, administrative assistant at the Y.

A sure sign that spring had arrived was the annual free gem, mineral and jewelry show put on by Snohomish Lapidary Club. It was this Saturday and Sunday at the Masonic Temple, Sixth Street and Avenue B.
