Suspensions revealed, and it’s not good for Everett

The WHL hasn’t announced anything yet, but Tips coach Mark Ferner revealed the initial hit on the suspensions handed down in the wake of Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Tri-City in Game 2.
– Winger Ryan Harrison was suspended for one game for his interference major penalty. He will sit out Tuesday’s Game 3 in Everett.
– Center Manraj Hayer was suspended for a length yet to be determined for his double-minor for checking from behind. He will miss at least Tuesday’s Game 3.
– Winger Cody Fowlie was apparently not suspended for his checking-from-behind major. However, Fowlie faces possible sanctions for a comment he posted on Twitter in response to Saturday’s game. The comment, since removed, was strongly critical of the officiating. The Tips had yet to hear whether Fowlie would be punished, and if so what that punishment would be.
So Everett will be down two, and maybe three, key forwards for Wednesday’s Tuesday’s game. The Tips were already facing an uphill climb, beginning the series as the heavy underdog and then falling behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven set. These circumstances make that hill look more like a sheer cliff wall.

Well, just as I was about to post this, the WHL announced its suspensions from the weekend, and it looks like Fowlie is being let off. The Tips were fined $500 for violating the league’s Social Media and Networking Policy, and Fowlie was not among those listed as suspended. So I guess that means he’ll be able to play Tuesday.
