Colorado duo leads NLL’s Players of the Week

Colorado forward John Grant Jr. continued his outstanding season by being named the National Lacrosse League’s Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Grant scored six goals and dished one assist in last Friday’s 13-12 loss to Philadelphia and had three goals and nine assists for a season-high 12 points in Sunday’s 16-15 overtime win over Philadelphia on Sunday.
It was Grant’s fourth such award this season and he leads the NLL with 40 goals and 87 points in 10 games.
Colorado’s Adam Jones also received Rookie of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks and third time this season for his performance this past weekend. Jones scored four goals, including the overtime game-winner in Sunday’s win over Philadelphia. He also dished out five assists. Jones also had two goals and one assist in Friday’s loss to the Wings.
Toronto’s Nick Rose earned NLL Defensive Player of the Week honors after his debut with the Rock this past weekend. Rose saved 28 of 35 shots and held the Rochester Knighthawks scoreless for a stretch of nearly 30 minutes in a 13-7 win.
Philadelphia’s Brodie Merrill also earned Transition Player of the Week honors for his performances in the home-and-home series with Colorado. In a victory last Friday, Merrill had an assist and scooped up eight loose ball. In Sunday’s loss, Merrill had two goals, two assists and collected 11 loose balls.
