MOUNT VERNON — Lakewood’s Preston Davis and Evan Thorpe made penalty kicks in the shootout, and Gustavo Garcia saved three shots — giving him a total of 13 on the day — to lead the Cougars to a 2-0 win in the shootout, and a victory in the District 1 play-in game. Lakewood will take on undefeated Squalicum Saturday in a first-round game at Civic Stadium in Bellingham.
