Police investigate luring attempt in Oak Harbor

OAK HARBOR — Island County sheriff’s detectives are investigating an attempted child luring reported Sunday night near Oak Harbor.
About 8 p.m., a man drove past an 8-year-old girl along Hemenway Place, approached the girl and told her to get into his car, detective Ed Wallace said.
The girl ran to tell her mother, and the man left.
He is described as white and 25 to 35 with a short goatee and brown hair with dyed gray streaks. He is about 6-foot with a medium build. He was wearing jeans, black flip-flops and a black shirt with a pirate flag design.
His vehicle was described as a a dark red sedan, mid-sized and possibly a newer model.
