Last day to enjoy the Evergreen State Fair

MONROE — Today is your last day to enjoy the Evergreen State Fair.

The fair is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The weather has helped fair attendance by staying sunny and mild, and on Sunday it was no exception.

In the parking lot, Anthony Collins, of Ballard, was ready to take his 8-year-old daughter and her 9-year-old friend to see the cat costume contest.

“That’s what they want to see,” Collins said.

Inside the fair, the Russell family of Seattle was enjoying their first ever visit to to the Evergreen State Fair.

They decided to spend the entire day watching animals, eating and going on some of the rides.

One thing they were enjoying was seeing all of the rabbits.

“It’s the most rabbits we have ever seen,” Jodi Russell said.

Her daughter, 8-year-old Abigail enjoyed the dog exhibit.

“I like how many different species of dogs there are,” she said. “It’s neat to see them all in one place.”

At another section of the fair, Tom and Christina Beaty of Gold Bar were taking care of two toddlers while friends were on the rides.

Even though Christina believed everything was expensive, she was still having fun. Tom, her husband, said the fair was a good place to bring the family.

“It’s not a long drive like the fair in Puyallup,” he said.

How to get there

The Evergreen State Fairgrounds are at 14405 179th Ave. SE in Monroe, 14 miles east of Everett, on U.S. 2 and about 30 miles northeast of Seattle via I-405 and Highway 522.

Community Transit: There is no bus service on Labor Day.
