DARRINGTON — A Granite Falls man is expected to recover after being rescued from the Glacier Peak Wilderness area near Darrington earlier this week.

The man, 62, fell off his horse while on a group horse-packing trip around noon Tuesday, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said. The man suffered several broken ribs in the fall.

The Snohomish County sheriff’s helicopter rescue team was able to reach the man, provide medical aid and transport him to a local hospital by about 3 p.m., Ireton said.

The Darrington Ranger District and the King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support unit also assisted with the rescue mission.
