Woman critically wounded in Spokane shooting

SPOKANE — Police say a man was showing a handgun to a friend when it accidentally fired and hit a 20-year-old woman in the head at a residence in Spokane’s South Hill neighborhood.

Police said the woman was critically wounded about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was taken to a hospital in grave condition.

Detectives seized the gun and are investigating circumstances that include negligent handling of a firearm and intoxication.
