Pullman Transit rated most efficient

PULLMAN — Pullman Transit is easily the most efficient bus system in the state.
That’s according to a new report by the Washington Department of Transportation.
The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports the state rates transit systems based on how much they take in from fares against operating costs.
Pullman Transit ranked the best in the state by a considerable margin, collecting 62 percent of its operating costs at the fare-box. Kitsap Transit was second at 30 percent.
But Pullman Transit Manager Rod Thornton says Pullman’s numbers get a boost from students at Washington State University who are required to buy a bus pass each semester. He said WSU students make up about 85 percent of the passengers on Pullman Transit.
