The Silvertips added some forward depth today, acquiring 18-year-old Graham Millar from Saskatoon for a conditional pick in the 2015 bantam draft. The pick starts as a fifth rounder, but can upgrade to a fourth rounder based on Millar’s production next season.

Millar is a 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Penticton, B.C., who is in his second season in the WHL. Last season as a rookie with Saskatoon he had seven goals and six assists in 61 games.

Talking with Tips general manager Garry Davidson, he was looking to add to Everett’s 1996-born group. At one point the Tips were awash in 96-born forwards, but trades and attrition have shrunk that group, leaving Everett with just Ivan Nikolishin, Tyler Sandhu and Dawson Leedahl.

Davidson said Millar’s best attributes are his size and his skating. Davidson also said Millar scored at lower levels, so there’s the possibility Millar could develop more offensively. Millar played as a right wing for Saskatoon, but Davidson said he’s capable of playing either on the wing or at center.
