MARYSVILLE — A goal in the 63rd minute by Jessica Moskowitz gave the Marysville Pilchuck girl’s soccer team their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory over Glacier Peak Thursday night.

“The preseason games I like to play everybody and find out what we look like,” MP head coach Paul Bartley said. “I challenged them to step up (tonight) and they did.”

The Tomahawks got on the board first with a goal by Brittney Anderson in the 13th minute. Glacier Peak quickly responded with a goal in the 17th minute by Sydney Mendenhall, but the early goal was enough of a confidence boost to give Marysville Pilchuck momentum.

“For this group (scoring early) is a big thing because we have to replace the two leading scorers in the (Wesco 3A) North from last year,” Bartley said. “For these guys to step up and take a challenge, it’s a confidence booster.”
