Prep girls soccer: Arlington 3, Mountlake Terrace 1

ARLINGTON — Bre Morren ran onto a long ball played by Olivia Larson in the 50th minute, beat a defender in a footrace and poked it past the Mountlake Terrace goalkeeper to break a tie, and Arlington went on to beat Mountlake Terrace 3-1 in an elimination game in the District 1 3A tournament.

Morren added a second goal in the 65th minute and Kaylee Bartley scored in the first half for the Eagles (15-4), who face Ferndale on Saturday with the winner advancing to state.

“We really tried to focus mentally on playing this as a single-elimination tournament,” Arlington coach Nathan Davis said. “We played better soccer tonight and the girls had more confidence. I thought we played a little bit scared against Shorewood (Tuesday) and we did a better job of playing focused and staying together tonight.”
