SNOHOMISH — Paisley Johnson and Kayla Watkins scored 19 points apiece and formed a solid inside-outside scoring tandem for the Grizzlies in a non-conference victory over the Bearcats on Friday night.

“Paisley did a great job of attacking the basket and finishing strong,” Glacier Peak coach Brian Hill said. “And Kayla was a load inside. When she gets the ball in there, she has great body control and can finish around the rim. The two of them made a good combination for a lot of the game.”

Johnson led the Grizzlies with eight points in the first quarter as Glacier Peak built an 18-5 advantage.

After combining to score 21 points in the first three quarters, Monroe erupted for 30 points in the fourth quarter to avoid the rout.

“Monroe played a great game and never gave up,” Hill said. “They got great shot opportunities that just weren’t falling, but they kept battling.”

Monroe made 10 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter.
