Front Porch: State Ave. widening project starts May 26

Work crews will begin widening State Avenue between 116th Street NE and 136th Street NE Tuesday, May 26. Most of the work is expected to take place between 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and drivers can expect lane shifts and an occasional lane closure this summer and fall.
The $2.9 million project will widen State Avenue from three to five lanes and a new traffic signal will be installed at 128th Street NE. The work is expected to be complete by December 2015.
State representative moves office: State Rep. Mark Harmsworth, R-Mill Creek, has moved his legislative office from Olympia to Mill Creek. The office is located at 15129 Main Street, Suite 201.
Skyhawks sports summer camps: The Monroe Parks &Recreation Department is offering Skyhawks sports camps for children ages 3 to 12 this summer.
Camps are to take place from June 22 to August 14. They include soccer, basketball, tennis, cheerleading, beginning golf, flag football and multi-sport camps.
