More rough news for Everett: Tyson Jost returning to Penticton

It’s been a rough few weeks for the Silvertips on the recruiting trail. First, they seemed to have the inside track on star prospect Auston Matthews until the European professional leagues got involved, and now they’re dealing with the interminable wait while speculation continues to favor Europe.
Now it appears Everett has missed out on another top prospect as the BCHL’s Penticton Vees announced today that Tyson Jost will return to Penticton next season.
Jost, a scoring center who’s going into his 17-year-old season, was Everett’s first-round pick in the 2013 bantam draft. While Matthews is the consensus first-overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft, Jost is thought to be a possible top-10 selection. Jost finished with 23 goals and 22 assists in 46 games for Penticton last season, leading the BCHL champions in points per game. He helped the Vees finish second at the RBC Cup, the junior A Canadian national championship tournament.
Everett could have used an injection of top-end offensive talent for next season. With it looking like Jost won’t be coming, and with Matthews highly questionable at best, it’s looking less likely that injection will be coming. The Tips really need to hit big in the import draft now.
