Kamiak’s Beard wins state hammer throw championship

Kamiak junior Tim Beard won the state hammer throw championship on May 31 with a throw of 181 feet, 9 inches. His defeated Eastlake’s Lukas Leitis, who finished second with a throw of 176-11.

The contest was held at Central Valley High School in Spokane. The hammer throw is not contested in WIAA-sanctioned events, but the event is recognized by the national governing association (USATF) and in college.
