Julie Shayne

Noon July 25, Edmonds Bookshop

The local author and editor will talk about her latest project, which is one she edited: “Taking Risks: Feminist Activism and Research in the Americas.” Shayne is senior lecturer in interdisciplinary arts and sciences at the University of Washington Bothell and an affiliate associate professor of gender, women and sexuality studies and Latin American and Caribbean studies at the University of Washington in Seattle. The shop is at 111 Fifth Ave. S.

Joshua Safran

7 p.m. June 25, Stanwood

Joshua Safran, who as a child found shelter and identity at Stanwood Library, will talk about his memoir, “Free Spirit: Growing Up on the Road and Off the Grid” at 7 p.m. June 25 at the Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center, 9612 271st St. NW. Following his talk, a reception and book signing will be held across the street at the library.

Gisela Wicks

2 p.m. June 28, Sno-Isle Genealogical Research Library

Wicks plans to read from her memoir “Born into Hitler’s War” at the Sno-Isle Genealogical Research Library, 19827 Poplar Way, Heritage Park, Lynnwood. Wicks writes about surviving the hardship of World War II and her years under Soviet rule in the former East Germany.
