Frogs’ Jackson named NWL Player of the Month

The Everett AquaSox announced Friday that shortstop Drew Jackson has been named the Northwest League Player of the Month by Minor League Baseball.
Jackson hit .417 in August and posted a .505 on-base percentage.
The 20-year-old Northwest League All-Star also stole 20 bases in 22 attempts in August, nine more than any other player in the league. Selected by the Seattle Mariners in the fifth-round of the 2015 draft out of Stanford, Jackson led the NWL in batting average, runs scored, hits, steals and on-base percentage during the month.
“Drew has been a special player to watch, especially over the last month,” AquaSox general manager Danny Tetzlaff said in a press release. “Our fans have seen how well Drew has played this season, and we have all been fortunate to watch such a talented team.”
The AquaSox are the second-half champions of the NWL’s North Division. They open the playoffs Monday at home against Tri-City.
Jackson’s success hasn’t been limited to August, though. He leads the league in batting average (.367), runs scored (63), on-base percentage (.438) and steals (47). The Orinda, California, native also won Northwest League Player of the Week twice — for July 20-27 and for Aug. 3-10.
