Cell tower bad fit with heritage

The Snohomish City Council is considering permitting Verizon Telecommunications for a 100 foot tall monopole cell tower. The tower will have three separate 15-foot triangular arrays with 12 antenna dishes clustered on each array. The bottom array will be about as low as a phone pole.

There are other less ugly alternatives to improving cell service in the south east part of town. It appears that Verizon has some old technology they would like to foist off on Snohomish.

This cell tower is intended to sit beside The Boys &Girls Club, next to the Skate Park, the Hall Moe Pool building and the toddler playground.

Isn’t it time Snohomish City Council started paying attention to the old town heritage, what it looks like and what it represents?
