SNOHOMISH — The city is considering a 1 percent property tax hike in 2016.

The City Council on Tuesday set a public hearing on the increase for 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Snohomish School District administration office, 1601 Ave. D. It would result in about $11,482 for the city.

City Manager Larry Bauman said even with the 1 percent increase, the city’s portion of the tax rate would decrease by about six cents for the average homeowner. The owner of an $259,000 home would pay $3.35 less a year, he said.

The overall tax rate will depend on what other districts levy.

The city of Snohomish last raised property taxes by 1 percent in 2015.
