Snohomish County is planning its 12th annual Focus on Farming conference for Nov. 19 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.
The one-day event dubbed “Planting Our Future” aims to bring together professionals from across the country to give farmers cutting-edge information. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. The program will run until 7 p.m.
Past years have drawn about 450 participants.
The agriculture portion of the conference includes 24 workshops covering six agriculture industries. New this year is a sister conference called Focus on Forestry.
There’s also an indoor trade show for farming equipment.
The keynote speaker, Ben Hewitt, is the author of “The Town That Food Saved: How One Community Found Vitality in Local Food.” He’ll be welcomed by newly appointed Washington State Agriculture Director Derek Sandison.
A lunchtime panel on near-term weather forecasts and their implications for farming will feature U.S. Deputy Undersecretary for Natural Resources and Environment Ann Mills.
