Prep football: Monroe 44, Mount Vernon 2

MONROE — Junior running back JJ Jerome rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on nine carries to lead Monroe (7-2) in a win over Mount Vernon in a Wesco 4A game Friday night.

Bearcats junior quarterback Zach Zimmerman was 8-of-14 passing for 69 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Grant Soules.

Also for Monroe, Kainalu Batongbacal rushed 12 times for 74 yards and a touchdown, Mateo Rizo rushed seven times for 49 yards and a score, and Isaiah Cole scored on a 99-yard kick return.
