Prep volleyball: Archbishop Murphy 3, Burlington Edison 1

SHORELINE — Sam Hayward led Archbishop Murphy with 21 kills as the Wildcats beat Burlington-Edison on Saturday to win the 2A District 1 championship and a clinch a berth in the state tournament.

This is Archbishp Murphy’s first district title since 2009.

“This is goal two out of three,” Archbishop Murphy coach Brandon Jones said. “When we’re passing the ball well we can beat anyone,” Jones said.
