VANCOUVER, B.C. — For the second consecutive Friday the Everett Silvertips played in an opposing team’s Teddy Bear Toss game.

And for the second consecutive Friday, the Tips ruined the evening for the hosts.

Carson Stadnyk scored the game-winner from the right circle in the second minute of overtime and the Silvertips escaped Pacific Coliseum with a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants before 9,170 fans Friday.

Everett (19-10-2-2, 40 points) won its fifth straight road game and fourth straight overall. Vancouver (11-20-3-2, 27 points) earned one point for forcing overtime and fell to 0-3 against the Tips this season.

Everett entered the game tied for first place in the U.S. Division standings with Seattle. Friday’s game between the Thunderbirds and the Tri-City Americans was not finished at press time.

Everett and Vancouver needed an extra session after the low-scoring affair ended 2-2 through three periods.

The Silvertips led 2-1 midway through the third period. But a penalty on Everett’s Remi Laurencelle gave Vancouver its second power-play opportunity. Chase Lang punched in the equalizer at 10:33.

Everett had taken the lead on Dawson Leedahl’s wrister from the slot at 10:15 in the second with an assist from Stadnyk.

Each team scored once in the opening stanza and the teddy bears to hit the ice early.

The fur flew at 11:11 in the first when Ty Ronning split the Everett defensemen and took a perfect feed from Trevor Cox on the break and went top shelf on Carter Hart to tie the match 1-1.

Connor Dewar scored the game’s first goal when he flicked an impressive shot past Ryan Kubic from a sharp angle on the right side for a 1-0 Everett lead at 1:25 in the first.

Stadnyk drove to the net with the puck with 20 seconds to go in regulation, but Kubic was there for the stop and covered it up despite a scrum in front of the net and the teams went to overtime.

Kubic finished with 34 saves while Hart finished with 18.

Stadnyk finished with a goal and an assist while Lucas Skrumeda added an assist. Cox assisted both of Vancouver’s goals.

The two teams reprise Friday’s game Saturday at Xfinity Arena beginning at 7 p.m. Incidentally it will be Everett’s Teddy Bear Toss as the event returns after more than a decade.
