COPALIS BEACH — A 66-year-old Everett man who was surf fishing off the Washington coast died from drowning Thursday, according to the Grays County Harbor Sheriff’s Office.
A woman called 911 just after 8 a.m. to say the man had been fishing with three others near the Benner Road beach approach. Deputies and medics went to the scene. He was given CPR but was pronounced dead at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Due to a language barrier with the other members of the victim’s fishing party, there was a delay in obtaining the man’sidentity, the sheriff’s office reported.
Investigators were working to notify next of kin on Friday afternoon.
