Art imitates light to illuminate downtown street in Edmonds

Published 1:30 am Sunday, July 24, 2016

If Fourth Avenue in Edmonds seems brighter than usual, there’s a reason.

Make that, 177 reasons.

Recently, 177 LEDs road studs were added to the roadway.

Iole Alessandrini was selected through the City of Edmonds Arts Commission public art process to create “Luminous Forest” for the 4th Avenue Interim Art Project.

The solar powered lights switch on at sunset and off at sunrise.

There will be a dedication celebration at 6:25 p.m. July 30 at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave N., Edmonds.

It is part of the center’s 10th anniversary bash, a free, all-day event for the public.
