EVERETT — Five members of the Everett AquaSox have been named to the 2016 Northwest League All-Star team.

Outfielders Eric Filia and Kyle Lewis, infielder Donnie Walton, and pitchers Ljay Newsome and Brandon Miller were named Tuesday to the squad that plays the Pioneer League All-Stars on Aug. 2 at Lindquist Field in Ogden, Utah.

Filia was selected as a probable starter. Lewis, who is out for the season with a knee injury, won’t play in the game.

“We are very excited to have five Everett AquaSox players named to the All-Star team,” Everett AquaSox general manager Danny Tetzlaff said in a press release. “Having this many players named to the team is a true testament to our outstanding coaching staff, and the Mariners’ organization.”

The AquaSox are a Class A short-season affiliate of the Mariners.

Filia, Seattle’s 20th-round selection in this year’s draft out of UCLA, came into Monday night’s game ranked third in the NWL in batting (.322) and second in RBI with 26.

Lewis was the Mariners’ first-round pick in this year’s draft. He injured his knee in a collision at home plate last week in a game against Tri-City. At the time, he was leading the league in hits, total bases, slugging percentage, extra base hits and triples.

Newsome posted a 3-1 record, a 3.60 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in the first half of the season. Miller, meanwhile, was 1-2 with a 3.82 ERA and ranked second in the league in WHIP (1.01).

Walton, selected in the fifth round of this year’s draft out of Oklahoma State, made the all-star team despite playing just 14 games with the AquaSox. Going into Monday’s game, he was batting .370, with three home runs and a .485 on-base percentage.
