MARYSVILLE — A police bomb squad destroyed a suspicious package discovered Monday near the municipal court at 1015 State Ave.
The device was inside a satchel, and it apparently was meant to look like a bomb, Marysville police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
A court bailiff spotted the satchel about 8:45 a.m. The court’s morning calendar was canceled and the state bomb squad was summoned.
A robot was used to destroy the object with “controlled detonation” about three hours later.
The investigation is ongoing. The court was scheduled to reopen for afternoon hearings, Lamoureux said.
