VERLOT — Two hikers were rescued Wednesday morning in separate incidents along the Mountain Loop Highway, near Barlow Pass.
The first involved a 45-year-old Everett man who was reported missing in the area around 8 p.m. Tuesday, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Searchers were deployed about 30 minutes later and found him early Wednesday.
“He was cold and hungry, but uninjured, and safely escorted back to the trailhead,” Ireton said.
The second rescue was for a 16-year-old girl who suffered a fall near Foggy Lake, on the route that leads to Gothic Peak. That trailhead is also near Barlow Pass. The accident was reported around 1 a.m. The girl suffered head and spinal injuries, Ireton said. She was retrieved by helicopter crews and flown to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The girl’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
