Art in the Park event returns to Arlington on Sept. 10-11

Walk most anywhere in Arlington and you’re sure to run into some public art that was scored for the city by the Arlington Arts Council.
The council also brings concerts to Arlington and provides a variety of activities for its residents.
Up next is the group’s annual Art in the Park, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 10 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at Legion Park, 100 N. Olympic Ave.
Longtime arts council member Sarah Arney said the event is a celebration of creativity in the greater Stillaguamish River valley.
More than 25 local artists and crafts people will show their work, kids can participate in activities, live music is scheduled and food, beer and wine will be served.
The Arlington Arts Council also plans to announce the winners of the Focus on Arlington photography contest at 11 a.m. Saturday, and the entries will be displayed.
Look for paintings by Gary Govett, Bill Koger, Marcello Cicchini, Jacques Drapeau and Melvin Cook, pastels by Vicki Johnson and Kathy Critchfield, watercolors by Joe Clapper, photography by Berta Baker, David Lunde and Sarah Arney, jewelry by Lee Beitz, Donna Aney, Rosa Armendariz, Alison Gamage, Patricia Higley and Kathy Tao-Alexanderson, paper mache sculpture by Judith Echegaray, turned-wood bowls by Stuart Fountain, painted fabrics by Karla Benjamin and Karen Lyons, yard art by Sarah Bye, and gourds by Joe and Nancy Wilson.
On Saturday, hear flutist Paul Nyenhuis at 10 a.m., the Michael Gotz jazz ensemble at 11:30 a.m. and The Winterlings from 4 to 7 p.m.
On Sunday, the Swingnuts Jazz group plays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
