Former Tip Tristen Pfeifer engaged, 28 remain on camp roster

Former Everett Silvertip defenseman Tristen Pfeifer reported some big personal news Saturday night. It seems the 20-year-old Phoenix native is engaged:

So blessed to be marrying my best friend, the big day can't come fast enough???? #FuturePfeifer

Pfeifer retired during the offseason due to the effects of concussions and is (to my knowledge) still a junior at Arizona’s Grand Canyon University. He completed his first two years at GCU online while playing for the Silvertips the last two seasons.

He aspires to earn his MBA at a top business school like Duke or Columbia, and we certainly wish him and his future bride well.

In other news, fellow 20-year-old Brandon Ralph has been let go by the organization. The news was first reported on Gregg Drinnan’s “Taking Note” blog and Ralph is no longer listed on the preseason roster.

Former Tips teammate Brycen Martin tweeted the following:

Ralph is a forward who tallied five goals and three assists after he was acquired from the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Ralph’s release leave the Tips with just two 20-year-olds on the roster: forward Graham Millar and defenseman Lucas Skrumeda. I anticipate general manager Garry Davidson will look to fill that open overage slot as soon as possible.

As it stands now there are 28 players still in camp according to the website’s preseason roster. The group includes 16 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders. The preseason concludes this upcoming weekend as the Tips play a home-and-home series with Seattle Friday and Saturday.
