National Comic Book Day

10 a.m. Sept. 25, University Book Store

In conjunction with Mill Geek Comics, the Mill Creek branch of the store offers a full day of activities for all ages. 15311 Main St., Mill Creek Town Center.

The historical romance writer will be on hand to read from and sign copies of her books set in the Victorian era, “The Trouble with Grace” and “The Spare and the Heir.”

4 p.m. Sept. 30, University Book Store

Nielsen will read from and sign copies of her new book for young readers, “The Scourge,” at the store, 15311 Main St., Mill Creek Town Center. In the medieval world of Keldan, a scourge has come upon the land and all those said to be infected are sent to Attic Island, a former prison, never to return.

2 p.m. Oct. 1, Everett Public Library

Robin, of Whidbey Island, co-wrote “Your Money or Your Life” nearly 25 years ago, but its message resonates in these financially challenging times. She will suggest ways to get out of debt, save money and live well for less. She has appeared on TV and radio shows and has been featured in many national magazines.

1 p.m. Oct. 1, Celebrating Women Expo

The best-selling mystery writer, a favorite in Snohomish County, will talk about and sign copies of her 17th novel about sheriff Joanna Brady. This time around, in “Downfall,” Brady has a full plate of personal problems and the mysterious deaths of two women who fell off a nearby peak to investigate. She speaks at the expo at Xfinity Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.

6:30 p.m. Oct. 1, Third Place Books

The author offers new and practical tools for dealing with children’s emotions and the stress of parenting. Her book is “Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges.” The store is in the Lake Forest Park shopping center.

7 p.m. Oct. 4, University Book Store, Mill Creek

De la Pena will read from and sign copies of his books “The Living” and “The Hunted.” TheNewberry Medal-winning author has written six young adult novels. He teaches creative writing and visits colleges and high schools throughout the country. He will be speaking at Mariner High School earlier in the day.
