STANWOOD — The Arlington football team clinched a playoff berth on Saturday, emerging victorious from a three-way Kansas City tiebreaker over Marysville Pilchuck and host Stanwood.
The Eagles beat the Tomahawks in the first contest, scoring the winning touchdown shortly after converting a crucial fourth-and-long pass play.
Arlington then topped the Spartans, recovering a Stanwood fumble after scoring on its opening drive.
The Eagles will play top-ranked O’Dea on Friday or Saturday in a quad-district winner-to-state contest.
Arlington, Marysville Pilchuck and Stanwood finished the regular season with 2-4 records in the Wesco North 3A division, prompting the tiebreaker, as head-to-head matchups couldn’t settle the tie.
